The Link Between Trust Accountability and Performance
Great leaders understand that they are completely responsible for the performance of their team. This involves delivering on the pragmatic aspects of leadership around creating a plan, setting targets and holding people accountable. However, the best leaders combine this with on the people in the team, generating trust, loyalty and motivation by the way in which they connect and develop relationships within the team. The main responsibilities of leadership are:
✳️Create clarity around roles and expectations
✳️Generate a culture of trust and confidence through the team
✳️Hold people accountable to the expectations we have set
About the Speaker
Mark Pope is Principal of Pragmatico Consulting and delivers programs in leadership, performance and accountability. Mark has had a varied career spanning nearly 40 years. Initially, as a chiropractor he founded a wellness centre in the northern suburbs of Perth. Over the next 20 years it eventually became one of the country’s largest, with a multidisciplinary team providing around 750 consultations per week from little to no advertising. The business grew primarily through word of mouth by having a strong vision, culture and holistic focus, built through close collaboration, mutual respect and great communications. On return to his hometown of Melbourne he took over a small training business and over the next 8 years transformed it into a national business improvement consultancy working with companies such as BlueScope Steel, Austal Ships, Leightons Contractors, Schweppes, Victoria University and others.
Retiring in 2016, Mark spent a few years travelling, completing bucket list items such as climbing to Everest Base Camp, Machu Picchu, hiking the Camino, running with the bulls and travelling overland from Beijing to Istanbul, following the old Silk Road.
While these experiences were interesting, they lacked the fulfilment and the feeling of making a difference that had always driven Mark and he returned to work in 2020.
Mark now works with teams and individuals to become more effective leaders, developing their Authentic Leadership and Pragmatic Leadership skills. His session today will explore how Pragmatic Leadership helps drive better performance, engagement and accountability in your teams.
