🎙️About the Speaker
In seeking additional ways to help herself, her siblings, and her son live optimal lives — mentally and physically — Louise spent most of the 2010s learning, researching, and gaining certifications. In 2020, she broadened her scope, assisting other NDIS participants as a psychosocial recovery coach.
Throughout all of this, she found she had an aptitude for explaining science-heavy material in simple terms. And this is what led her to redirect her career towards mental wellness education and create the Mental Wellness Project.
Incredible progress has been made in the mental wellness space in the past few decades. But there’s still a long way to go towards a truly safe and stable society.
For one, many people are still unclear about where their responsibility for their health begins and ends. She strives to provide clarity here, helping people make informed health choices that support their long-term mental wellness.
Overall, she’d love to see a world where people don’t relinquish all of their control to the medical system. Where they understand that doctors can’t fix everything with no effort on their part.
She wants to use her knowledge, skills, and hardships for good — to contribute towards an empowered, harmonious society that understands how a broader science-backed perspective complements Western medicine. A society where people not only survive but thrive.
